Rizespor Host Trabzonspor in Black Sea Derby on Monday Night

Çaykur Rizespor and Trabzonspor meet on Monday evening in the Trendyol Süper Lig's ninth week, with kick-off set for 19:00 at Çaykur Didi Stadium, according to Fanatik. Halil Umut Meler will referee the Black Sea derby, and beIN Sports 1 will carry the match live.

Fanatik also published probable starting line-ups ahead of the game. Rizespor's expected eleven is Fofana, Mithat, Bakayoko, Sagnan, Ariss, Taylan, Olawoyin, Laçi, Mebude, Mihaila and Sowe. Trabzonspor's probable side is Onana, Pina, Nwaiwu, Savic, Mustafa, Fabinho, Melih, Salah, Muçi, Aral and Dju. These are projections, not confirmed team sheets.

Why it matters

The fixture is a regional rivalry with a long top-flight history behind it. According to Fanatik, this will be the 49th Süper Lig meeting between the two clubs. Across the previous 48 league matches, Trabzonspor hold a clear edge with 30 wins to Rizespor's nine, while nine ended level. The Bordeaux-and-Blues have scored 95 goals in those games, with Rizespor replying with 44.

That record frames Monday's match as both a local bragging-rights contest and a test of whether Rizespor can close a gap that has persisted across decades of league meetings.

A mixed record in Rize

Fanatik reports that the two clubs have played 24 previous matches in Rize. Trabzonspor won 10 of them, Rizespor won seven, and seven finished as draws. The home ground has therefore not been a fortress for either side in the way the overall league record might suggest.

Recent seasons add a twist. Before last season, Trabzonspor had gone four campaigns without a win in Rize, losing three and drawing one. That run ended when they beat Rizespor 2-1 on their most recent visit, a result Fanatik highlights as the point at which the away side's poor sequence stopped.

What to watch

The main question is whether Trabzonspor can build on last season's result in Rize or whether Rizespor can use home advantage to improve on a head-to-head record that has favoured the visitors. With both probable line-ups now public, attention turns to the confirmed teams and to Meler's handling of a derby that carries local weight beyond the league table.

Kick-off is at 19:00 on Monday, with live coverage on beIN Sports 1.
